Why have we been nominated
 

FOOD HYGIENE                                                                healhty food award

Standards should be over and above all food safety legislation that is relevant to their business. You will be assessed on

  • Structure and layout of the premises
  • Food handling practices
  • Staff training and knowledge
  • Management controls

HEALTHY FOOD CHOICES

There are a number of criteria:

  • Meals are served in line with the balance of good health
  • At least one healthy eating option must be available on the menu
  • If a starchy food that is high in, or cooked, in fat is offered e.g. chips, an alternative must also be available
  • At least one choice of fruit and vegetables (including salads) must be available
  • Meat must be lean and poultry offered without skin
  • Use of reduced fat dairy products is encouraged
  • Unsaturated fats and oils must be used in preference to saturated fats
  • A range of healthier drinks must be available. Water should be freely available and offered as a choice
  • There is active promotion of healthier alternatives
  • Child sized portions of adult meals are available
